During my sophomore year of college I had a friend who had grown her shiny, raven hair so long that, had she not tidied it into a ponytail and the occasional bun, she probably would have sat on it.
Many people praised her mane, but most were turned off by its excessive length. It had no shape or texture by the end of the school year.
In one of those “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” cases, it turns out my friend had grown her hair to donate it to Locks of Love. She underwent the burden of extreme hair maintenance and gave up cute styles just so she could help out people who were in need of her healthy hair.
She swept into lecture one day and gone was her usual heavy ponytail.
